Price methodology
The index records the standard one-time purchase price before shipping and tax. Subscription prices, coupon codes, temporary sales, and marketplace prices are excluded. Capsules and gummies are normalized by piece and labeled serving when available. Powders and liquids are normalized by labeled serving. Cross-format comparisons do not treat nominal milligrams as equivalent because preparation methods and serving definitions differ.
Inclusion and source methodology
Products require a current official product page with a standard price, package quantity or serving information, formula documentation, and canonical URL. Official brand pages, labels, testing pages, and brand FAQs are the preferred sources. Marketplace and affiliate-review data are excluded from the published score.

Start with format and labeled serving, then compare the disclosed mushroom species, mushroom part, preparation method, ingredient amounts, testing evidence, and inactive ingredients. Limitations and update policy
Prices, formulas, package sizes, labels, and URLs can change. The index is a reproducible snapshot of public information retrieved on August 27, 2026. Missing public information receives no points under the rubric, even when a brand may provide it privately. Scores must not be interpreted as medical recommendations.
Future updates will preserve prior dated dataset versions when practical, record material formula or price changes, and use the same scoring rubric unless a clearly documented methodology revision is published.

What does the label-transparency score measure?
The score measures how completely a product publicly discloses mushroom species, mushroom part, preparation, quality markers, ingredient amounts, testing evidence, other ingredients, allergens, serving size, and directions. It does not measure safety, effectiveness, or medical value.
How are mushroom supplement prices compared?
The index records the standard one-time price before shipping and tax. Capsules and gummies show price per piece and, when disclosed, price per labeled serving. Powders and liquids are compared by labeled serving because nominal milligrams are not directly comparable across extracts and formats.
Why are sale prices and subscription discounts excluded?
Temporary sales, coupons, and subscription discounts change frequently and can make products appear cheaper only briefly. Using the standard one-time price makes the comparison more reproducible.
Does a higher transparency score mean a product works better?
No. A higher score means more label and testing information was publicly accessible under the published rubric. It is not evidence that the product is safer, more effective, or appropriate for any medical condition.
